Ultimate tough guy partnership in "Escape Plan"

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone hit the red carpet in New York on Tuesday night to promote "Escape Plan".Sly and Arnie. Rocky and the Terminator. These legends of 1980s action flicks are back and this time they are together. "Escape Plan" is a prison escape drama which has just had its U.S. premiere.
Asked why the legendary action movie stars are finally doing a full-length movie together, Stallone was a little sarcastic. "I felt sorry for Arnold. Nobody likes him anymore, no one’s talking to him," he said. "And it’s been a long time since someone’s really beat him up, so I went, 'I’m the guy!'"
Schwarzenegger was more blunt. "The audience and the fans have been waiting for a long time, but so were we. Sly and I, we have tried to do a movie together for ages and there was just never anything good around. Never a really good script that really blew up our skirt."
Stallone plays a structural engineer who constructs prisons and tests their security by being locked inside. During his latest assignment he is framed and ends up having to hatch a plan with his cellmate, portrayed by Schwarzenegger, in order to escape.
Schwarzenegger said working with Sly was a major motivation in taking the role.
"It was a great action piece and it also had really good scenes in it that gave me the ability to act and to do things that I have never done before in a dramatic way. And I thought it would be a very entertaining movie and that the fans would really enjoy this movie," Schwarzenegger said.
Co-stars Amy Ryan, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Jim Caviezel, also made an appearance on the red carpet.
"You got the Terminator and Rambo and I get to beat them up being the warden? Who could turn something like that down?" said Caviezel.
"Escape Plan" is already on in some parts of the world and opens in the U.S. and the UK on Friday.
