FIFA announces World Cup seeds
d much of the footballing world and now the next step towards the Finals has been taken with the release of the updated world rankings.
These rankings are what FIFA will use to determine which nations will be seeded atop the 8 groups for the World Cup when the draw is held on December 6th.
Even though they are ranked 11th Brazil as hosts were given one of the spots. The host nation will be looking to capture a record sixth World cup crown on home soil.

Spain, the defending World and two-time reigning Euro champions have also been given one of the top seeds thanks to their number one ranking.
Second placed Germany who waltzed through qualifying will also headline a group. Die Manschaft will be looking for their fourth World Cup title.
So here is a look at the remaining seeded nations for next summer’s showcase. The decision was based purely on FIFA rankings, so Number Three Argentina, four Colombia, five Belgium and seven Switzerland made the cut based on their world standings.
There is still one seed left to be decided and it will go to either number six Uruguay or the eighth ranked Netherlands. The South American nation will get it if they beat Jordan in a two-legged playoff, otherwise that spot will go to the Dutch.
